San Juan Capistrano Skatepark Overview
San Juan Capistrano Skatepark will be located near San Juan Capistrano Community Center and Sports Park and situated next to baseball fields
The park, which is expected to cost around $3.2 million, was designed by Grindline Skateparks and approved by the town’s city council on April 5, 2022. It looks to be a terrific addition to Orange County’s skatepark lineup.
The park’s design calls for three bowls, of varying depths, as well as a large street plaza that includes banks, hips, handrails, stairs, flat rails, and many other features.
It took nearly a decade for the city to approve the park, find a designer and get approvals, a process that was pushed forward by a group of local skaters, the San Juan Capistrano Skate Park Coalition.
The skatepark will have design touches that harken back to San Juan Capistrano’s history, such as Spanish mission-style gates and walls and visual references to the town’s famed swallows.
