Riverdale Skatepark

The Riverdale Skatepark is a 7,000 square-foot outdoor concrete skatepark in Riverdale, Georgia that first opened in 2017. The skatepark is packed with features, including a large 4-foot to 6-foot bowl, a platform spine, and a modest but sufficient street plaza.

The Riverdale Skatepark was a dream of the Riverdale Mayor Evelyn Wynn-Dixon since 2008. After many years of gathering support and securing funding, Mayor Evelyn Wynn-Dixon was able to call upon the expertise of the Spohn Ranch team to build a comprehensive skate park for the residents of Riverdale and the surrounding communities.

Riverdale Skatepark Overview

The Riverdale Skatepark has quickly become a popular skate destination in Georgia due to the incredible design and solid construction of the park as well as due to the park’s proximity to Atlanta. The Riverdale Skatepark is only a 30-minute drive from downtown Atlanta.

One of the main attractions of the park is the 4-foot to 6-foot bowl that keeps skaters entertained for hours. The 4-foot section of the bowl provides a safe space for skaters to gain experience in bowl skating and to build their confidence before dipping down into the 6-foot section. The bowl has steel coping all the way around.

The square-shaped street plaza has plenty of terrain and obstacles to be explored for skaters of all skill levels. There are several different grind rails, a manual pad, some ledges, and a quarterpipe for dropping in. Separating the street plaza from the large bowl is a unique platform spine that many skaters love.

The park is open to the public, seven days a week, from dawn till dusk.

Although the Spohn Ranch design and construction team were the main brains of the operation, the organization made sure that they spoke to the local skating community to get their opinions and insights on how the park should be built.

Spohn Ranch, with assistance from the Mayor, organized a design workshop that invited skaters from the Riverdale community to come together and share their ideas. Everyone seemed to agree that the final result was above expectations.

The Riverdale Skate park is part of the larger Riverdale Regional Park that contains a full-size football field, softball fields, playgrounds, walking trails, concession stands, and restrooms. The skatepark itself has several benches and a water fountain to keep skaters hydrated, especially during the hot Georgian summers.
