Olympus Skatepark Overview
Opened in 2021, Olympus Skatepark is a small park with a stand-out mini-bowl. The keyhole-shaped bowl has a shallow section that’s around 3 feet deep and a larger deep section that’s around 5 feet deep. The bowl is well made and offers up some surprisingly fast flow lines.
Next to the bowl is a snake run that is almost cartoonishly small. That said, I’ve seen people find some good, fast lines through it. The run is mostly small noping transitions and ends in a capsule with steel coping.
For the parents out there, if you are looking for a place where you can skate while your kid(s) plays on a playground, this place is a gem.
Parking for the park is along the street, which creates a bit of a jam on busy weekends. This and some unruly behavior have irritated the neighbors in the area. The park is jammed right in the middle of what looks to be a very wealthy neighborhood, so it’s no surprise there has been some friction between entitled homeowners and entitled Encinitas teenage e-bike gangs.
Probably would have been a good idea to include a restroom in the planning for the park, as people urinating in the bushes is another point of contention.
